Amy Fennell Announces Campaign for Texas House District 60
Grandmother, Small Business Owner, and Conservative Leader Launches Campaign to Represent Rural and Suburban Families Alike
WILLOW PARK, TX – Amy Fennell, a grandmother, small business owner, former Willow Park Councilwoman, and real estate investor, today announced her candidacy for Texas House District 60. Raised in rural East Texas and rooted in conservative values, Fennell says her blend of rural heritage, business experience, and public service makes her uniquely suited to represent both the fast-growing suburbs and small communities that define the district.
“I am running to protect our schools, secure our water, lower our property taxes, and make sure government focuses on the basics. I am running to ensure freedom and opportunity for future generations of Texans.”
As a true grassroots, fiscal conservative, Fennell believes the Texas Legislature betrayed core Republican principles when it created a new $1 billion entitlement program for private school students that expands government and fails to protect parental rights. She says that money should have gone back to homeowners to actually reduce property taxes, and she vows to reform the “out-of-control” property tax system, starting with oppressive appraisal practices that are burdening Texas homeowners.
Fennell also brings a dynamic understanding of the complex water challenges facing Parker, Palo Pinto, and Stephens counties. She plans to take a comprehensive water plan to Austin, bringing citizens, water experts, and local leaders together to secure long-term solutions. She will also work to improve infrastructure and safeguard it from natural disasters and major accidents.
On education, Fennell will stand up against the Austin bureaucracy that has shoved unfunded mandates on our schools for too long. She will push for increased state funding for special education programs, will fight to eliminate the state testing requirements, and will call to put education back in the hands of local parents—Austin is done calling the shots for the schools of House District 60. It's time to restore real educational freedom for our community schools, private schools, and home schoolers.
Fennell draws a sharp contrast with the current representative, pledging to vote only in the district’s best interest—not at the direction of billionaires or out-of-state donors. “Our District deserves a conservative leader who will bring home practical solutions to the issues facing our communities,” she said. “Our homes are over-taxed, our children’s schools are struggling to keep the lights on, and our infrastructure is not up to standards—enough is enough.
